Chiengi MP Katuta to Face Defence in Threatening Violence Case

The Lusaka Magistrate’s Court has ruled that Chiengi Member of Parliament, Given Katuta, has a case to answer in a matter where she is accused of threatening violence against Times of Zambia photojournalist, Henry Chunza.

Magistrate Idah Phiri announced that the State had presented sufficient evidence to warrant placing Katuta on her defence, which is set to commence in August 2025.

Katuta, aged 54, has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The allegations stem from an incident on July 21, 2023, during which she is accused of spitting on Mr. Chunza shortly after being ordered to leave the National Assembly by Speaker Nelly Mutti.
