INACTION ON PROPOSED BILL IRKS MEDIA LIAISON COMMITTEE

The Media Liaison Committee has expressed concern at the continued postponement to table the access to information bill which is ready to be taken to parliament especially that the house has adjourned.

Committee Chairperson Enock Ngoma says not having taken the ATI to parliament in the current session of sittings does not inspire confidence among stakeholders especially that Government promised that it would table the ATI in the current session.

Mr. Ngoma says it is regrettable the government has continued to make mere statements on the matter without acting. He says that while stakeholders remain committed to ensuring the ATI gets to parliament, the lack of political will from the authorities still remains a challenge.
