ATI LAYMAN’S BILL CONSOLIDATION CONCLUDED, BILL SET FOR SUBMISSION TO MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

The Ministry of Information and Media today concluded the consolidation of comments from Stakeholders on the Access to Information (ATI) Layman’s Bill which they submitted during the consultative meeting held recently at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka.

The Ministry is now set to submit the draft ATI Layman’s Bill to the Ministry of Justice for legislative drafting in readiness for tabling in Parliament in its forthcoming Sitting.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Kennedy Kalunga, during a meeting held in Lusaka to finalize the Bill, reaffirmed government’s commitment to enact the Bill.

When enacted, the Bill will give effect to the right to access information so as to foster a culture of open governance by providing disclosure, encourage democratic participation, transparency and accountability.
