Suspected UPND Cadres Attack PF Youths During Youth Day March

Suspected cadres from the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) allegedly attacked Patriotic Front (PF) youths during Youth Day celebrations in Lusaka on Tuesday.

A video circulating on social media captures individuals dressed in UPND regalia physically assaulting and hurling insults at PF supporters, some of whom were seen fleeing in various directions to escape the violence.

In an interview, PF lawyer Celestine Mukandila confirmed the incident, stating that approximately 45 PF youths sustained injuries as they approached Mulungushi International Conference Centre. “As we neared Mulungushi, we decided to switch lanes to avoid crossing paths with the UPND group. But as soon as we changed direction, they attacked our youths beating women, seizing phones, and stealing money. It was a disturbing situation,” Mukandila said.

He added that PF leadership had instructed their youths not to retaliate in order to maintain peace during the national commemoration.
