State Orders Review of KBN TV’s Analysis Program

KBN TV’s latest episode of the Analysis Program, aired last night, has triggered concern among state actors, prompting a review of the footage. Intelligence sources have revealed that authorities have downloaded the broadcast and are thoroughly examining it in search of any material that could be used to implicate the program’s analysts.

This morning, the scrutiny continued with close monitoring of KBN TV’s DayLight Breakfast Show, reportedly focusing on Station Manager Innocent Phiri. According to intelligence sources, the objective is to find any possible link between the station and ongoing discussions regarding the health of President Hakainde Hichilema.

Sources say the government is particularly displeased with how the Analysis Program responded to recent warnings by Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu. The Minister had cautioned citizens against spreading falsehoods about the President’s health. However, the program argued that the situation did not warrant threats and instead criticized it as a failure of communication by presidential aides, who they believe should have addressed the public more clearly to dispel the rumours.

State House sources have since confirmed that President Hichilema is scheduled to travel to Tanzania, followed by visits to Japan and Ethiopia.

During the broadcast, the Analysis panel also challenged the Zambia Police to publicly identify the individuals responsible for the break-in at KBN TV studios. The analysts alleged that known political operatives were behind the incident, which they claim was orchestrated under the guise of a robbery in an attempt to silence the station.

The program further called out the ruling UPND, urging it to shift focus from targeting perceived political opponents and instead address pressing national issues after spending over three years in power.

On the topic of the President’s alleged ill health, the panel reiterated that it is State House’s responsibility to dispel such rumours, echoing a point previously made by President Hichilema himself. While in opposition, he had urged the Presidency to clarify similar health-related rumours surrounding former President Michael Sata.

Meanwhile, police sources have confirmed that former Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba is expected to be arrested upon his return to Zambia. He is reportedly among those identified as prominently questioning the President’s whereabouts.
