On March 13, 2024, Police in Lusaka took a warn and caution statement from Chris Zumani Zimba regarding allegations of Seditious Practices, which are in violation of sections 57 and 60 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
According to reports, on March 7, 2024, Dr. Zumani purportedly published an article in a specified newspaper tabloid that is believed to have the potential to incite hatred and disaffection toward the government, as well as sow discontent among the people of Zambia, as per legal standards.
Dr. Zumani was not detained following the recording of the statement and was permitted to leave.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather information.
