IBA Cautions Diamond TV Over Unprofessional Conduct During Breakfast Show

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has expressed concern over Diamond TV’s failure to maintain professional broadcasting standards during its Breakfast Show aired earlier today, which featured Mr. Francis Kapwepwe.

According to the IBA, the station did not adequately moderate the programme, allowing Mr. Kapwepwe to use inappropriate language on air without proper intervention. The Authority noted with dismay that the programme’s moderators failed to handle the situation with the seriousness it warranted, showing a disregard for journalistic principles that prohibit the broadcast of offensive language.

In a statement, the IBA reminded Diamond TV of its obligation under Section 24 (1)(e) of the IBA (Amendment) Act No. 26 of 2010, which mandates commercial stations to adhere to the highest standards of journalistic professionalism. The Authority strongly cautioned Diamond TV against repeating such lapses, stating that the content aired was in violation of Zambia’s cultural values.

The IBA further directed the station to reinforce ethical broadcasting practices and ensure strict compliance with professional standards moving forward.
